Instant Marie Biscuit Chocolate Truffles

A SUPER easy and addictive sweet made using biscuits and a handful of ingredients; these truffles are a MUST-TRY this festive season!

Festive season is coming up and we are ready to celebrate with some delicious sweets and savory snacks. 

Making Indian sweets is often a long drawn process with complex ingredients and procedures. But some sweets can be made REALLY quickly with a handful of ingredients.

These truffles are just PERFECT for any celebration. An adaptation of a recipe my grandmother and mom made every Diwali; these recipe was always made by eyeballing the ingredients. I finally documented it with measured out ingredients. 

The recipe that inspired this was in the magazine that came home each festive season sponsored by Milk-Maid; a popular Indian condensed milk brand. It is at least 30 years old; and my family has been making it ever since.  

What are Marie Biscuit Chocolate Truffles?

This version of truffles is an instant, no-cook and delicious one.

Marie Biscuits are a popular type of Indian tea time biscuits. They taste great with some masala chai and work GREAT in this recipe.

They are soft and can be processed quickly. They are mixed with condensed milk, cocoa powder and rolled into tight balls. This combination is SO good and super addictive. 

These truffles can be rolled in various toppings and enjoyed straight from there. 

A great sweet for any celebration or dessert table, these truffles have been my favorite for years and finally they are on the blog.

These Easy Biscuit Chocolate Truffles

  • are no cook and come together really fast

These truffles are made with biscuits, condensed milk and chocolate. They need to be refrigerated to keep them fresh. 

Marie truffles can be made in advance and make a great addition to any dessert table or sweet box.

Ingredients/ What you need to make 

Ingredients for Easy Marie Chocolate Truffles


Marie Biscuits: A popular brand of Indian biscuits, Marie is my preferred one for this recipe.

Light colored soft biscuits, these are a great canvas to infuse the flavors of your choice. However, using graham crackers or any type of digestive biscuits is a great idea too.

Condensed Milk: Used to sweeten the dessert, sweetened condensed milk is required for this recipe. 

Some versions show how milk and sugar can be used, but I have not tried that. I always use condensed milk to make it super quick.

Cocoa Powder: Unsweetened cocoa powder is used in the recipe. It is super fine and mixes well with the ingredients. It adds a hint of chocolate to the recipe. 

Almond: Adding some crunch to the truffles is almond meal. It can be made instantly by processing some almonds or used from the store. 

Semi-Sweet Chocolate: Shredded chocolate is added to the truffles. This adds some more chocolate flavor to the balls. This can be skipped if you do not have it.

Toppings: A variety of toppings can be used in the recipe. I have used shredded coconut, pistachio, edible silver varakh and shredded chocolate. 

These make the truffles delicious and give some crunch to them.

Step by Step Instructions to make 

Prepare the toppings by processing the pistachios to fine powder and grating semi sweet chocolate. Keep them in separate bowls. 

1- Blitz the marie biscuits in a food processor or grinder. These can be ground smooth or left slightly gritty.

2- Transfer to a large bowl.

3- Add in cocoa powder, ground almonds and shredded chocolate.

4- Mix the dry ingredients and add in condensed milk.

5- Bring everything together to a soft dough consistency.

6- Make equal size balls using this mix. Set them aside.

7- Roll each bowl in your choice of toppings like shredded coconut, shredded chocolate, pistachio powder. The ones left without toppings can be rolled in silver edible varakh.

8- Enjoy or refrigerate till ready to enjoy!

Tips and Notes

  • Use any soft biscuit or cracker that crumbles well. Having large bits will not result in smooth truffles.

  • Adjust the condensed milk if you switch the biscuits for a sweeter version.

  • These truffles are great when rolled in nut meals or chocolate. They can be dipped in melted chocolate too. 

  • Refrigerate the truffles till a few minutes before serving.

Instant Pot Apple Cider

Fall is here and it time for a LOT of apple picking trips. If you went picking this weekend or are planning to go soon, here is a delicious recipe to make using the apples.

A crisp and warm drink to enjoy through Fall and a great drink for the Holiday season, Apple cider is perfect to keep you warm through these seasons.

What is Apple Cider

A cooked version of apple juice; Apple cider is a popular drink in the US. It does have some other fruits, berries and spices but the first ingredient is apple and thus the name.

Every family and store has their version of the drink. The spices, proportion of fruits and kinds of fruits used vary. 

Typically various kinds of apples are used in the recipe so it has the sweet and sour notes at once. 

When compared to apple juice, cider will be opaque. This is because the peels and flesh of the fruits are included in the cooking and they tend to pass through the fine mesh when filtered.

This recipe of Apple Cider

  • is made in the instant pot

  • has a mix of cranberries, apples, oranges and spices giving it a lot of warmth

  • is best enjoyed warm but tastes great chilled too

  • can be sweetened with dates, honey, maple syrup or sugar

  • can be spiked with some red wine or rum for the festive season

I have made the exact recipe for a few years now and we have been loving it. Our friends and family also like this version a lot. 

We generally enjoy this through Fall and then when it is December, this is our go-to drink while watching Christmas movies!

Apples: I used a mix of Granny Smith, Red Delicious and Fuji apples. Mixing them helps get a sweet and tart taste in the cider. Pick sweeter ones if you like your cider sweet.

Oranges: Adding a LOT of tang to the cider are oranges. They also make the cider very flavorful as they are cooked with the peel.

Cranberries: I like to add cranberries to all Winter drinks. Fresh or frozen ones will work here. 

Sweetener: Sugar, dates, honey or maple syrup is great to sweeten the cider. I have used brown sugar.

Spices: I have added cinnamon, star anise and cloves in the recipe for warmth and spice. 

Adding fresh or dried ginger, nutmeg and black pepper works great too. 

Step by Step Instructions to make

1- Wash and cut the apples and oranges. They can be cut into wedges, slices or pieces. The peel can be left on the fruit.

2- In a thick orange slice pierce the cloves; making it easy to fish them out after cooking.

3- Place all the fruits in the instant pot. 

4- Add the spices and sugar.

5- Pour in water to almost submerge the fruits when pressed down.

6- Close the Instant Pot lid and set mode to pressure cook. Set time to 15 minutes. Let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes and release the remaining pressure.

7- Open the Instant Pot and remove the spices.

8- Mash the fruits using a potato masher.

9- Strain the cider using a fine mesh or muslin cloth. Extract as much juice as possible.

Using the Instant Pot to make the cider

Traditionally made using a pot, Apple cider needed to be boiled for hours to make it flavorful. 

Intermittent stirring is required to ensure the fruits do not settle down. 

The instant pot on the other hand cooks everything faster. Plus, it is hands free and a dump and start recipe. 

Holiday season is busy and this method makes the cider stress free! I love using the instant pot to make the recipe while I make something else on the stove. 

The same recipe can be made using a traditional pressure cooker or pan too.

  • Pick a mix of green and red varieties of apples. They tend to give a sweet and tart balance in the drink.

  • Add more spices like pepper, nutmeg or ginger for warmth.

  • The drink can be enjoyed warm or even after refrigerating it for a few hours.
